Municipal Approvals for Charitable Gaming
May 29, 2024
The Senate has passed HB 1223, which creates a new local option for host communities on whether to host games of chance operations.
The bill, as amended by the Senate, requires applicants seeking to open new games of chance locations to receive an approval from the town or municipality where it is located before beginning operations. The new municipal approval would not apply to gaming operations licensed as of May 1, 2021 or to applications for licenses submitted between January 1, 2023, and October 15, 2023. The House could concur on the bill as amended by the Senate or request a Committee of Conference this week.
