About the Job
New Generation, a program of Catholic Charities New Hampshire, is looking for Thrift Shop Sales Associate to join our team of dedicated professionals. The Sales Associate is responsible for providing customer service to shoppers, donors, and volunteer staff at the Shop while assisting with overall store operations. The hours for this position is Tuesday through Saturday from 9:30am to 4:30pm
Many pregnant and single mothers experience homelessness due to domestic violence, financial hardship, mental health issues and substance use, among other challenges. New Generation provides comprehensive support – including a family-oriented shelter, transitional housing and aftercare services – to empower mothers with the skills, confidence and resources to build self-sufficient lives for their families.]
Responsibilities
· Responsible for the store opening on time and for accepting and evaluating donated items
· Sorting, tagging, and pricing merchandise
· Operating cash register and maintaining daily cash receipts
· Assisting clients as needed, representing the Thrift Shoppe and New Generation Shelter in a professional manner at all times
· Ensuring that racks are neat and orderly and all merchandise is tagged
· Resolving customer complaints and notifies Director of any issues
Requirements
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Must be able to lift and carry donation items weighing up to 50 pounds with assistance
• Must be able to sustain a full 8-hour day of standing, walking, lifting, and bending
• Effective communication and customer service skills
• Experience in a retail work setting, preferred
• Familiar with New Generation’s organization and services and where to refer people for information
