HAVEN, formerly known as A Safe Place and SASS officially merged in July of 2015 becoming the largest violence prevention and support services agency in NH. We are dedicated to addressing public health through violence prevention and improving the well-being of children and families. Preventing abuse and providing support for those impacted by domestic and sexual violence can lead to healthier and more secure children and adults. Our mission is to prevent sexual assault, domestic violence and stalking and to support and empower women, men, youth and families to heal from abuse and rebuild their lives. Through a 24-hour client service support program and a Safe Kids Strong Teens K-12 Prevention education program, this organization provides services to individuals and families throughout Rockingham and Strafford Counties.

HAVEN Volunteer Coordinator


RESPONSIBILITY
This position is responsible for the coordination of HAVEN volunteer opportunities and helping interested volunteers navigate the right fit in order to strengthen our programs and to involve a community of supporters. As a member of the Client Services team, this position also provides crisis intervention and support services.

ACTIVITIES
    Volunteer Coordination 
•    Develop, promote and maintain a wide range of volunteer opportunities.
•    Manage volunteer & intern inquiries to identify the most appropriate opportunity to fit their skills/interests.
•    Screen all potential volunteers and co-screen interns with relevant staff.
•    Oversee recruitment, retention, and recognition efforts for volunteers.
•    Oversee tracking of all Volunteer hours.
•    Serve as point person for all volunteer group projects for HAVEN and oversee coordination of project with relevant staff point person (s). 
•    Maintain volunteer job descriptions, requirements, and screening forms.
    
    Client Services
•    Provide direct services to clients on the crisis line and walk-ins during office hours.
•    Provide staff backup for night, weekend and holiday coverage on a rotating basis with other staff.
•    Accompany survivors to hospitals, Child Advocacy Centers, courts and police stations.
•    Coordinate follow-up services.

    Other
•    Flexibility to travel to our entire service area.
•    Participate in agency outreach and fundraising events as needed.
•    Assist in special projects and assignments as required for the effective operation of the agency.

QUALIFICATIONS
•    SKILLS:  Strong verbal and written communication skills, experience supervising staff or volunteers. Highly organized with attention to detail. Must complete 35-hour advocate training.
•    KNOWLEDGE:  Understanding of issues relating to sexual and domestic violence.  Adequate computer knowledge, Microsoft Word, Excel and Access preferred.

STATUS OF POSITION 
HOURS PER WEEK: 40 Night and weekend work will be required.
Salaried Non-exempt $41,600 per year 
Benefits Eligible (Medical/Dental/Retirement match/PTO)
