About the Job

Description

Greater Nashua Mental Health is looking for a Therapist to join our Intake Team! The Intake Therapist performs initial clinical evaluations of mental health and substance use disorders for clients of all ages. Clinician assesses eligibility for mental health programs and recommends level of care in substance use treatment using ASAM criteria. Evaluations may be provided both during walk-in hours and through scheduled appointments. Completes all associated paperwork, preliminary diagnoses, preliminary treatment recommendations, and referrals for treatment. Monitors client engagement to the receiving program, performing the appropriate follow-up until client is connected to treatment or case is closed. Flexibility in schedule, with some evening hours required.


Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Performs the initial clinical evaluations for new and returning clients, in order to provide a preliminary diagnosis and treatment plan.
  • Completes all initial evaluations in the EMR along with any accompanied documentation within 3 business days (with first day being date of service/completion).
  • Tracks the intake evaluations for engagement with services within the and completes dispositions accordingly.
  • Communicates professionally and effectively with clients, supervisor, colleagues, and collateral contacts regarding client care.
  • Prepares for and attends department meetings (monthly), supervision meetings (weekly), and others as needed.
  • Assists director and other intake department staff on training and mentoring interns and new staff members.
  • Manages and respond to email, voicemail, and other communications in a timely and professional manner.
  • Performs other duties or special projects as required or as assigned. 

Qualifications: 

  • Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field
  • Licensed LCMHC/LICSW or license eligible, LADC/MLADC or license eligible additionally preferred. 
  • Ability to form rapid rapport and interact with a broad range of clients, including severe and chronic populations.
  • Experience doing evaluations preferred, or at minimum basic familiarity and interest in diagnosis and evaluation.
  • Experience or interest in working with individuals with substance use disorders.
  • Familiarity with community resources.
  • Ability to teach/train/mentor effectively.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.).
  • Strong collaborating skills, and an ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines; high energy, self-motivated and proactive.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask, and be flexible with regard to workload and assignments.
  • Ability to exercise judgment.
