Staying in compliance with the government is an important part of nonprofit governance. We've had a few questions about the Form 990, recently. Here is a quick overview.

The Form 990 is an annual information return that tax-exempt organizations must file. It is the IRS' primary tool for gathering information about tax-exempt organizations. Organizations also use the form to share information with the public about their programs, many foundations and grantmaking organizations require them.
