About the Organization
Since 1965, Keene Housing has provided housing assistance and supportive services to thousands of low-income elderly, disabled and working families in New Hampshire’s picturesque Monadnock region. With 36 staff members and an annual agency budget of approximately $15 million, Keene Housing owns or operates approximately 550 units of housing, administers over 780 Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) rental subsidies and operates several supportive service programs.
Keene Housing’s commitment to creative policy and program design has made it a national model for innovation in affordable housing development and management. Keene Housing was one of 12 high performing public housing authorities (PHAs) admitted into HUD’s Moving to Work (MTW) demonstration program in 1999. Since then, Keene Housing has leveraged MTW to comprehensively redesign its HCV program, convert its public housing portfolio to privately financed, project based affordable housing and create new programs focusing on particularly vulnerable populations including domestic violence victims, disabled residents and homeless families.
About the Job
Keene Housing (KH) is a nationally recognized leader in housing policy reform and affordable housing development. KH is seeking a full-time Special Adviser for Planning and Development. Reporting to the Executive Director, this position is responsible for writing and administering grants for development, acquisition, and/or redevelopment of affordable housing or other related development projects, including renewable energy. The Special Adviser for Planning and Development provides strategic, topical, and operational guidance and hands-on implementation.
The ideal candidate must have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent from four-year college or technical school or 5 years combination of education and experience preferably in affordable housing, community development, or a similar field. Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in writing, editing, and proofreading grant proposals with a focus on clarity, detail, and accuracy. Familiarity with federal, state, and local housing and community development programs (e.g., HUD, CDBG, HOME, LIHTC) is preferable, but not required.
