The Society of St Vincent de Paul Exeter, NH Food Pantry and Cleo Castonguay Community Assitance Center was established in October of 1989  with the mission to provide emergancy food and assitance to those in need when all other resources have been exhusted. We serve the needs of our neighbors struggling in Exeter, Newfields , Stratham, Kensington, Brentwood and East Kingston.

About Us: SVdP Exeter Food Pantry and Cleo Castonguay Community Assistance Center is dedicated to offering food and emergency financial assistance to residents of Exeter, Stratham, Newfields, Brentwood, Kensington, and East Kingston. Services at the Community Assistance Center, such as Medicaid enrolment as well as homeless support, are available to anyone in need. We have been serving our Exeter area neighbors in need for 35 years. 

Job Overview: The Social Service Assistant will be responsible for performing client intakes, making referrals to appropriate resources, and providing general administrative support. This role involves interacting with clients, volunteers, and donors, maintaining accurate client records, and ensuring the smooth operation of office functions.

Key Responsibilities: Conduct confidential interviews with clients to assess needs and gather necessary information. 

  • Perform intakes for new clients and provide information about available services.
  • Make referrals to social service agencies and other community resources based on client needs.
  • Advocate on behalf of clients to connect them with appropriate resources.
  • Administrative Duties:
  • Document and maintain accurate client files, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with organizational policies.
  • Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and provide information to clients, volunteers, and donors.
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Order office supplies and schedule building maintenance as needed.
  • Office Management:
  • Manage day-to-day office operations, including maintaining a welcoming environment for clients, volunteers, and donors.
  • Keep abreast of current resources and services available in the community.
  • Provide administrative support to the team, including scheduling meetings and coordinating events.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in social services or related field is a plus.
  • Experience in a social service is required. 
  • Administrative experience preferred. 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact compassionately and professionally with clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Proficiency in office software and technology as well as online software. 
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Skills: Familiarity with community resources and social service agencies.

Experience in a nonprofit setting.
