Position Summary: Residential specialists are tasked with providing support around daily living and mental health management in a 24/7, community-based adult residence. The staff works to increase independence, encourage skill acquisition and utilization, help with symptom management, and maintain a clean and safe environment for the residents. Residential specialists work closely with the treatment team and community agencies to provide wrap-around support for all individuals. We strive to provide effective, evidence-based practices. Included in the position is day-to-day household management and transportation of residents to and from appointments, shopping, extra-curricular activities, etc. Requires the ability to form therapeutic relationships, think critically, provide interventions, and take initiative. The position requires a bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or education/counseling from an accredited college or university. Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license, an automobile with liability insurance, and a clean background and driving record check.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support clients in developing skills for living independently
- Assist clients with taking steps toward their wellness and recovery goals
- Support clients in the residential and community settings
- Participate in direct 1:1 and group activities
- Help clients with apartment maintenance
- Maintain appropriate and accurate documentation
- Ensure effective and thorough communication with the treatment team
Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of mental health/therapeutic interventions
- Ability to climb stairs and stay physically active throughout the day
- Manage time efficiently
- Basic computer and email skills
Qualifications: Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license, an automobile with liability insurance, and a clean background and driving record check.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or education/counseling from an accredited college or university
Experience: Experience in residential or mental health settings preferred
