Description

 

Program Director, with a focus on biotecha new position at the Hannah Grimes Center, is a three-and-a-half-year role made possible by a Community Fund Project grant secured through the Congressionally Directed Spending process.

It is currently funded through December 2027. The goal is to ensure that biotech entrepreneurs that want to start and grow their companies in rural communities have the resources they need and that rural communities benefit from the outsized

economic impact these businesses offer through a new array of job opportunities to retain and attract people who want to live in a rural community and work in biotech.

 

Specifically, the individual in this position will be building on an existing foundation of the “Radically Rural Biotech” project. They will be responsible for connections, programming, and increasing capital access resources to establish the basis of a rural biotech entrepreneurial ecosystem. The ecosystem will support and train entrepreneurs in the Monadnock region’s own nascent biotech sector and share these small business resources with other rural communities, while also enjoying the benefits of resources from those partners.

 

This is a three-and-a-half-year position with the potential to extend beyond that if funding permits. $65,000 per year plus benefits, with cost-of-living adjustments applied each year.

 

Specific experience in the biotech sector is a plus but not required. More importantly, we are seeking a visionary, highly organized, personally disciplined, self-motivated, confident individual with an ability to efficiently build relationships and interact with a wide range of personalities and who brings a commitment to excellence and strong written, graphic, public speaking, and presentation skills.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Catalyze a national rural biotech resource network by creating an online platform for asset, expertise and resource sharing, collaborating, and by convening the partners annually at the Radically Rural Summit.
  • Manage the workplan, deliverables, reporting, evaluation and budgetary responsibilities for this 3.5 year, federally- funded grant in collaboration with the contracted grant administrator and other staff members.
  • Leverage local and national rural biotech resources and partners to attract and support biotech entrepreneurs in the Monadnock region and other rural regions in New Hampshire.
  • Develop sector-specific programs and resources for biotech entrepreneurs in our region and in rural NH including developing capital access resources to fill a significant gap in funding for these types of ventures in the community.
  • Develop marketing assets necessary to support a campaign that will encourage entrepreneurs to start biotech companies here or choose the region to locate their biotech company.
  • Serve as the point person for Hannah Grimes’ biotech initiatives at conferences, industry events, with executive and administrative teams, national and regional partners, entrepreneurs, and the community.
  • Serve as an ambassador for Hannah Grimes and the greater Keene community.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications – a wide range of variables can affect an individual’s fit for this job, but most generally the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

 

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or greater
  • Experience: Three years’ experience building programs and developing networks; sufficient background and understanding of marketing, team integration, budgetary responsibility, evaluation and measurement, organization, and general business or nonprofit practice
  • Skills: high proficiency in technology including Microsoft Office, social media and internet services; willingness to engage with new technology, including a resource-sharing platform
  • Mission: Commitment to the mission of the Hannah Grimes Center for Entrepreneurship which provides the space, tools and networks that innovative entrepreneurs and businesses need to build strong businesses, thriving local economies and vibrant communities in the Monadnock Region. 
  • Work Traits: Highly organized and able to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment. Personable, ethical, disciplined, self-motivated, ability to effectively interact with a wide range of personalities, creative problem solver, team player, commitment to excellence and quality, hard worker, and sound judgment.
  • License/Certification: Valid driver’s license and a car
