Description

Waypoint's Advocacy Department is expanding, and we are seeking a dynamic and driven Policy Advocate to join our mission. As a Policy Advocate, you will play a pivotal role in shaping policies that address inequities faced by individuals, children and families in New Hampshire. This public-facing position requires strong public speaking and problem-solving skills, as you will engage with decision-makers and collaborate with various stakeholders to foster systemic change. We are seeking someone with a collaborative, thoughtful approach to examining systems affecting individuals, children and families in our communities. Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: Advanced degree in law, government or social services   
  • Experience:  3 years’ experience in policy-level advocacy or government relations. 
  • Prior successful advanced advocacy experience involving child and family policy and practice and other areas impacting Waypoint programs. 
  • Extensive knowledge of government policy making procedures and methods of influencing policy. 
  • Proven track record of effective work with advocacy coalitions. 
  • Experience with use of social media. 
  • Experience and proficiency in Word Processing, Excel, Zoom, Teams, and internet research skills as required. 
  • Successful criminal check; No history of abuse, neglect, or exploitation. 
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record, reliable transportation, and proof of auto insurance with a minimum liability coverage of $50,000/$100,000.

  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, including public speaking. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, networking experience, and self-motivation to work effectively with others in a collaborative environment. 
  • Ability to build supportive and trusting relationships. 
  • Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines. 
  • Understanding the work of Waypoint and how it relates to advocacy. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and ability to work as part of a team, being a team player and collaborator. 
  • Flexibility to attend evening events as needed. 
  • Demonstrated experience in effective internal and external communication, collaboration, and coordination with individuals and organizations. 
  • Familiarity with campaign strategy and the NH legislative process is preferred. 
  • Bold and courageous professional leader.
