About the Job

Description

Assists in many aspects of the Accounting and Fiscal Management of SCS. Compiles financial statements for specific programs using Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and an understanding of Uniform Guidance.  This role ensures the integrity of the SCS' systems when preparing and reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, supporting payroll, identifying and recommending budget revisions, developing and monitoring adherence to internal controls, while identifying, designing and documenting process improvements. 

Essential Functions:

  • Performs reconciliations of complex accounts for various federal, state and local programs.
  • Prepares actual to budget reports and monitors any variances, interprets/shares financials with necessary governing bodies, makes necessary recommendations when appropriate. Also assists governing bodies when applying for new programs when necessary.
  • Prepares any required reporting and invoicing on a regular basis.
  • Works with Agency Fiscal Director and CFO with any regulatory monitor or audit of agency financial or compliance reviews. 
  • Assists with preparation of all policy and procedure manuals.
  • Assists with training and technical assistance support as it is necessary. 
  • Participates in learning opportunities to build skills of collaboration, critical inquiry, listening and trust.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to produce accurate financial reporting, initiate projects and develop solutions.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail including the ability to organize multiple tasks/projects, as well as prioritize tasks within projects.
  • Exceptional ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion and judgment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead initiatives and work collaboratively as well as be self-directed.
  • Strong analytical skills as well as strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated adherence to regulations, laws, policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • A combination of education and experience equivalent to the needs of the role with a preference for someone with a degree in accounting or related field and a minimum of 5 years of progressive responsibility in accounting.
  • Knowledge of and ability to implement appropriate internal control procedures, GAAP, and other accounting, non-profit, Uniform Guidance regulations.
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office products and accounting database applications.
