Museum Summary: 

The New England Racing Museum, located near the South Entrance of New Hampshire Motor Speedway, is dedicated to discovering, preserving, and educating the public on the history of New England motor racing. The museum features a 10,000 square-foot display of race cars and motorcycles from various disciplines, all with a New England background. Visitors can explore race win trophies, championship trophies, driver helmets, stunning photography, and unique racing artifacts. The museum also hosts a Soap Box Derby display, a slot car track, and an iRacing Simulator. Open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays May through November, and on Saturdays December through April, the museum aims to celebrate and preserve the rich motorized racing heritage of New England. 

Our mission is to discover, preserve and educate the public about the history of New England motorized racing, including the people who do it, or have done it. Our museum was built and shall operate as a place for the public to visit and come to appreciate our sport’s past and to learn about its present and future. We encourage preservation of historically significant racing artifacts including vehicles, literature and photography. 

Position Summary: 

The Executive Director will lead the museum through its next phase of growth, leveraging its strengths to create a more dynamic and sustainable future. This is a full time salaried position. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to the museum. 
  • Oversee daily operations, including staff management and facility maintenance. 
  • Develop and implement educational programs and events. 
  • Lead and inspire museum employees, fostering a positive and productive work environment. 
  • Collaborate with volunteers, ensuring their contributions are valued and effectively integrated into the museum’s activities. 
  • Lead fundraising efforts and donor cultivation. 
  • Engage with the community and build relationships with partners. 
  • Manage the museum's budget and ensure fiscal responsibility. 
  • Work closely with the Board of Directors to align on strategic initiatives. 
  • Demonstrate excellent and proficient presentation skills, including presenting to executive leadership. 
  • Coordinate and lead mission-focused museum fundraising events, including revenue-generating car shows. 

Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Proven leadership and management skills 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities 
  • Proficiency in writing, grammar and spelling skills 
  • Comfortability and proficiency in presentation and public speaking skills 
  • Event creation and management, current and new 
  • Demonstrated use of digital marketing platforms, social media including Facebook, website management and email distribution programs 
  • Experience in museum or non-profit administration 
  • Knowledge of grant writing and fundraising 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and board members 
  • Passion for the museum's mission and dedication to its success 

 

Education Requirements: 

Bachelor's Degree: A Bachelor's degree in Art, Museum Studies, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field is often preferred. 

Advanced Degrees: A Master's degree in a relevant field, such as Fine Arts, Museum Studies, Marketing, or Non-Profit Management, can be advantageous. 

 

Previous Work History: 

Experience Non-Profit Administration: 5+ years of experience managing non-profit organizations. 

Fundraising and Development: Experience or willingness to learn grant writing, donor cultivation, and fundraising. 

Leadership and Management: Experience in leading teams, strategic planning, and operational oversight. 

Community Engagement: Ability to build and maintain relationships with community partners, government agencies, and cultural organizations. 

Hybrid Working Environment: Proven track record of excelling in a hybrid working environment, managing both in-person and remote teams effectively. 

Presentation Skills: Demonstrated ability to deliver compelling presentations, including to executive leadership. 

 

Compensation Package: 

This a full-time salary position with a range of $75,000 - $100,000, commensurate with experience. Benefits package as agreed upon with consideration for healthcare stipend. Flexible time off is offered for vacation, sick, or other reasons.
