About the Job
Job description
Overview
The Pope Memorial Humane Society, Cocheco Valley (PMHS) seeks an energetic, compassionate and experienced Executive Director to partner with the Board of Directors, to leverage our 40 years of growth and lead our organization into the future. PMHS is dedicated to promoting the humane treatment of animals in Strafford County, NH and Southern Maine. We are a safe, temporary home for more than 1,000 surrendered, lost, abused, neglected, or unwanted animals each year.
About our Name
Lyman Pope, a lifelong animal lover, is leaving an indelible mark on shelters across New England. His significant donations spearheaded the construction of four shelters in Thomaston, ME; Orleans, VT; Concord, NH; and Dover, NH, all bearing his name.
Pope Memorial Humane Society in Dover, NH, formerly Cocheco Valley Humane Society, faced fundraising challenges for a new facility. After a few years of generous contributions from our community individual and business partners, in 2017 Lyman Pope made the final generous donation that allowed our dream of a new facility to come true. The new facility provides spacious indoor and outdoor space and is located on a country road in Dover, NH.
About Us
Since 1984 the PMHS has served the animals and people of the greater seacoast region of New Hampshire and Maine, bringing the community together to care for, protect, adopt, and provide a healthy life for abandoned and homeless animals.
