Executive Director
About the Organization
Established since 2008, CVTC has been providing Volunteer Driver transportation services in the Monadnock Region of NH.
From 2008 through June 2016, CVTC served the 13 towns in the Eastern Monadnock Region with our Volunteer Driver Program (Three from Cheshire County and 10 from Hillsborough County). Starting July 1, 2016, we absorbed the American Red Cross transportation program in Keene and now serve 34 towns, having added Mason into our service area in 2017. We now serve all 23 towns in Cheshire County and 11 towns in Hillsborough County.
The Volunteer Driver Program is our ONLY program. It provides no-fee rides to non-emergency medical and social service appointments, and basic need destinations (grocery store, pharmacy, post office, and bank) for residents who don’t drive or don’t have access to a vehicle because of their age, ability, income and/or life circumstances. We serve all who call, with an emphasis on seniors and people with disabilities. CVTC also provides rides for people whose mobility is dependent on a wheelchair. We subcontract with regional wheelchair-van providers at no cost to the rider.
The Volunteer Driver Transportation Coordinators register riders’ requests in TripList, our proprietary web-based software system. Drivers log-in to select rides that fit their availability. We do not dispatch rides. After the ride is complete, drivers put in their miles and volunteer hours. Their monthly reports are generated for mileage reimbursement, and data collection. Drivers donate their time and, if they choose, receive mileage reimbursement from funds provided through the Federal Transit Administration through NH Department of Transportation, Bureau of Rail and Transit. We are currently offering the government rate of $0.625 per mile.
With the expansion of our service area in 2016, CVTC changed our name -not the acronym - to Community Volunteer Transportation Company to reflect the service relies on community-based volunteers regardless of a particular geographic location.
About the Job
About the Organization
Community Volunteer Transportation company (CTVC) was incorporated as a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization in 2008. CVTC was born out of a grassroots effort to address the growing unmet transportation needs of the region. Transportation options for everyone is the vision of the organization. Our mission is to optimize health, well-being, and independence by coordinating transportation options for people throughout the Monadnock Region, located in the southwest corner of New Hampshire.
For many of our neighbors who don’t have access to a vehicle due to age, ability, economics, or other circumstances, there can be very few available transportation options. By offering “no-fee” transportation for those without access, CVTC’s team of staff and volunteers positively impact our communities in three primary ways.
- Serving the public health needs of the region by partnering with local hospitals, human services agencies, and municipalities to support the health, safety, and well-being of our communities.
- Serving our neighbors in need of transportation by providing rides to non-emergency medical or social service appointments and to the grocery store, bank, post office, or pharmacy.
- Serving our neighbors looking for meaningful ways to make a difference by providing volunteer opportunities and supporting our volunteer drivers with training and orientation, an easy-to-use ride coordination system, and mileage reimbursement.
