Founded in 1919, the Currier Museum of Art in Manchester, is New Hampshire’s leading art museum, with core strengths in European, American, and contemporary art, enhanced by a varied exhibition program. The museum also owns and programs a significant Frank Lloyd Wright designed house. The Currier’s educational initiatives reach 7500 school children in the region, and the studio art school serves an additional 1500 students a year, including teens and adults. Community initiatives include special programming for families of active military or veterans, Alzheimer’s’ patients, and families impacted by opioid addiction. About the Job
The Currier Museum of Art seeks a Director of Finance, reporting to the Director & CEO and serving as a member of the senior leadership team. As an integral part of the museum’s business operations, the Director of Finance oversees the financial management of the institution to ensure long-term financial sustainability and endowment growth. The successful candidate will provide strategic direction in developing financial projections to support fiscal strategies and business plans to achieve targeted goals. Specific responsibilities include budget preparation and reporting, strategic financial analysis, assessment and monitoring of organizational performance and fiscal controls, forecasting, accounting, investment tracking, cash management, compliance, and audit preparation. Supervisory responsibilities and significant interaction with the Board of Trustees.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field. CPA or MBA preferred.
- 10+ years financial management experience, preferably in a non-profit environment.
- Thorough knowledge of finance and accounting principles, Federal and State compliance.
- Strategic, proven analytical thinker and creative problem-solver.
- Superior organizational skills with a high attention to detail.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines in a busy environment.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated leadership skills; strong interpersonal and relationship management skills with a team orientation and ability to collaborate with peers across departments.
- Must enjoy working in a dynamic non-profit environment and approach work with a positive attitude and sense of humor.
- Commitment to confidentiality and ethical behavior.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, Excel and pivot tables. Knowledge of Financial Edge Accounting Software a plus.
