SNH’s programs include a series of first-class orchestral concerts each season in with additional performances around the state, chamber music concerts, educational programs for elementary students, free community concerts, and related activities.
About the Job
Symphony New Hampshire is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Director of Development who will be responsible for multiple events that inspire and engage participants in the organization’s mission and manage all SNH’s fundraising activities. The successful candidate will be outgoing, organized, a strong written and oral communicator, and be willing to learn the ins and outs of development as appropriate. This is a full-time position that reports to the Executive Director.
Key Responsibilities:
- In partnership with the Executive Director, develop and implement the annual events and fundraising plan that moves SNH toward its vision.
- Building and stewarding relationships with donors, corporate sponsors, vendors, and partners.
- Coordinate and deliver donor-centered communications for events and appeals.
- Donor database management
Annual Fund and Donor Events:
- Develop, implement, and track the Annual Fund as well as maintain fundraising events calendar.
- Timely communications with donors and prospects.
- Responsible for the coordination of all donor events.
- Work with “special events” personnel to coordinate event logistics.
- Provide corporate sponsor fulfillment and other partner obligations.
- Track and report on event fundraising results and participant involvement.
Grant writing:
- Identify foundation, government, and other grant funding prospects; develop, write, and submit solicitations and/or applications and other documents as requested.
- Maintain the grants calendar noting deadlines for proposals and final reports.
- Research and steward relationships with current and potential granting organization staff members, schedule in-person meetings when possible.
Communications & Marketing:
- Assist marketing with writing about development/donor events in SNH communications.
- Manage the creation and design direction of donor event-specific communication.
- Strategize and implement new ways to welcome, engage and reward donors for their participation and commitment to SNH.
Database Management:
- Process incoming gifts according to established protocols.
- Produce donor acknowledgement letters and receipts for gifts.
- Manage time-sensitive tasks daily and exercise good judgment to protect confidential information.
Qualifications:
- Strong passion for the mission. Bachelor’s degree. Performing arts background preferred but not required.
- Previous experience in fund development, event management, fundraising events, project management, marketing, communications or equivalent is preferred.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, including an ability to communicate clearly in verbal and written forms, as well as forge and maintain relationships with event stakeholders, with a strong focus on quality customer service.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
- Experience working with digital fundraising platforms.
