Description

Education For All Children (EFAC) is an established nonprofit that provides an education-to-employment program for bright, disadvantaged Kenyan youth to foster leadership, economic opportunity, and social progress. The organization has offices in Portsmouth, NH, and Nairobi, Kenya.

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Development Director to join our team. As the Development Director, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our organization's fundraising efforts and development strategy. You will work closely with both the US and Kenya teams to identify funding opportunities and to develop and execute fundraising strategies to support our mission. This is a leadership position that requires excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of nonprofit operations, and a passion for advancing our cause. 

This position is hybrid with preference for candidates in the Eastern time zone and flexibility to accommodate meetings and events in other time zones. Expected travel to seacoast NH or other locations for donor engagement, events, and meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the creation and implementation of the annual fundraising plan in collaboration with board and staff
  • Work with leadership to set budget, forecast income as related to fundraising plan
  • Secure financial support from individuals, corporations, and foundations
  • Manage stewardship of current donors
  • Develop and manage strategies for donor retention and prospective donor cultivation
  • Organize and oversee fundraising campaigns and events
  • Research, prepare, and submit grant proposals; manage reporting requirements for grants received
  • Contribute to EFAC’s public relations initiatives, represent EFAC at events and public speaking engagements
  • Ensure implementation of fundraising best practices across the organization, with special attention to moves management and data integrity
  • Assist board development committee, board members and others in developing their relationships with donors and potential donors
  • Prepare reports for board meetings, impact statements, year-end donation acknowledgments, etc.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in fundraising, a proven track record in donor cultivation and stewardship, and exceptional attention to detail.

  • Bachelor's degree; Masters Degree in a relevant field preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in a leadership role in fundraising within the nonprofit sector, experience with international nonprofits preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to effectively communicate EFAC’s mission and programs to donors and stakeholders
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to work effectively with a dynamic, highly collaborative international team
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills; flexible and supportive approach to teamwork
  • Willingness and ability to travel for donor engagements, events, and programs
  • Experience using Salesforce NPSP (or similar CRM) for constituent and fundraising management and reporting
  • CFRE certification or candidate preferred

Benefits

Annual salary range for this position is $100,000-$150,000
