About the Job
The National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in the State of New Hampshire (NSCDA-NH) seeks a part-time Development Coordinator to improve upon its current development initiatives and implement new ones.
Summary:
The Development Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the development program of the NSCDA-NH and Moffatt-Ladd House & Garden including processing dues payments, creating and implementing fundraising initiatives, and stewarding current and prospective donors. They are also responsible for outreach efforts including the museum’s rental program, drafting press releases, creating newsletters, social media, and updating the museum website. They will maintain the museum schedule. They will assist with educational programming and events. They report directly to the Development and Programs Manager and Executive Director of the Moffatt-Ladd House & Garden, but also work closely with the Treasurer of the NSCDA-NH.
Working closely with the Development and Programs Manager and Executive Director of the NSCDA-NH’s Moffatt-Ladd House, the Development Coordinator will:
- Conduct donor research.
- Prepare the Annual Appeal and other development-related mailings.
- Work within and improve the organization’s development plan.
- Develop and implement new strategies for engaging current donors and attracting new ones.
- Process financial gifts to the organization using Little Green Light.
- Create marketing material as appropriate.
- Collaborate with the Development and Programs Manager to create a streamlined marketing plan to raise the Moffatt-Ladd House’s profile both in the Portsmouth community and beyond.
- Further develop and promote the Friends of the Moffatt-Ladd House program.
- Collaborate and assist on educational programs and events.
This position will also be responsible for the rental program of the Moffatt-Ladd House’s garden and warehouse. This includes:
- Facilitate and coordinate rentals of the property by fielding emails and phone calls from potential renters.
- Ensuring all paperwork is completed, and payments are made in a timely manner
- Ensure that all rules are adhered to during rentals.
- Meet with renters and potential renters to show the property and answer questions
- Work with the Development and Programs Manager and Lead Guide to ensure all rental events are staffed with appropriate personnel.
- Increase awareness of the Moffatt-Ladd rental program by creating relevant marketing materials, attending networking events, and updating the museum’s website.
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated with a strong ability to prioritize tasks. They will be comfortable talking with people in large and small groups and communicating the NSCDA-NH’s mission effectively and enthusiastically while speaking and writing. They will be well-versed in development best practices.
This position is part-time with hours up to 21 per week . Pay is $22 per hour. This position will be on-site. Typical week will be 2-3 days per week, occasional weekends as needed for rentals and events.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience in museum development work and social media/marketing, private rentals, and/or events management preferred. A background in history, nonprofits, or other relevant experience is ideal.
