About the Job

Description

Job Opening: Pashto- or Dari-Speaking Case Manager

Building Community in New Hampshire is a private non-profit organization that provides post-resettlement services to refugees and other immigrants. We help New Americans navigate their way to safe, healthy, productive, prosperous, and connected lives in New Hampshire.

BCNH seeks a bilingual case manager to provide practical support to Pashto- or Dari-speaking women and children from Afghanistan. The case manager will provide similar services to speakers of other languages when he or she is able to do so in culturally and linguistically appropriate ways.  We can be flexible about hours: anything from 15 to 40 hours per week, with flexible scheduling.

The case manager will work one-on-one with refugees or with groups of refugees, helping them with access to social services, housing, medical care, and educational opportunities for themselves and their children.  The case manager will provide encouragement and direction to improve clients’ capacity to participate in community life and to build connections in the region.  The case manager will ensure that the needs of their clients are assessed and met in a culturally and linguistically appropriate manner and will help clients engage in other BCNH programs ranging from English classes, nutrition counseling, and citizenship prep to field trips in the White Mountains. The case manager may use other approaches to help clients attain self-sufficiency, success, and joy in New Hampshire.

BCNH has offices in Manchester and Nashua and serves refugees in Concord and throughout the state. The case manager does not need to live close to the office, provided they can meet clients in person and virtually as necessary.

The case manager will treat all clients and contacts with dignity and respect, regardless of their race, creed, color, gender, or political views.  The case manager will accept no personal gratuities from clients and will report to BCNH any personal activities that might create a conflict of interest or the appearance of a conflict of interest.

Requirements

  • Excellent people skills, ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • Fluency in Dari or Pashto (or both) and English.
  • Cultural background comparable to client population.
  • Experience in social services is a plus.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs.
  • A valid driver’s license, insurance, and car that can be used to transport clients.
  • Must be fully vaccinated and boosted against COVID.

Salary and Benefits:

  • Starting pay for case managers is $49,920 per year ($24 per hour).
  • Full-time employees earn 21.2 paid days off in their first year (floating holidays and vacation time) and up to 12 days of paid sick leave/personal time.
  • BCNH reimburses employees for 50% of their monthly health insurance premium. We also provide short- and long-term disability insurance, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance.
