Now more than ever, communities and constituents are looking to their local nonprofits to be leaders in the work of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). In turn, by embracing DEI work, a nonprofit organization can actually better fulfill its own mission. It is well-known that a diverse, inclusive organization is a more powerful, a more creative, and a more effective organization.
Diversity has multiple dimensions, and one of the pieces of the DEI puzzle that often gets overlooked is the LGBTQ+ community.
At Sanborn Diversity Training Solutions, our mission is to help businesses and nonprofits become "LGBTQ+ culturally competent" and by so doing, to help create healthier organizations for both employees and consumers/constituents.
We provide live, virtual, instructor-led training in formats ranging from a 60 - 75 minute "lunch and learn model" to a full-length four hour course, spread over two days. All courses are facilitated by the president and founder of Sanborn Solutions, Rebecca Sanborn, J.D. In addition to her law degree, Rebecca also holds post-graduate certificates in adult learning, DEI, advanced employee relations, and human resources. As a proud bisexual woman, she also brings an element of personal, lived experience to the training as a member of the LGBTQ+ community. During the training, Rebecca is assisted by an expert producer, who handles the technical aspects of the training and provides general assistance to keep things flowing smoothly. The classes are engaging, interactive, and participant-focused.
Importantly, nonprofits organizations enjoy their own specially crafted curriculum, to meet their unique needs.
