Mayhew Program

Since 1969, Mayhew has been challenging and helping at-risk New Hampshire boys to believe in themselves, work well with others, and find their best.

Mayhew is an eight-year experience for each boy, taking him from age 10 to his high school graduation.  It's an intensive and supportive summer adventure paired with "we're here for you" school year mentoring.

Thanks to the generosity of many throughout the state and region, more than 200 NH boys are on the path to better futures at Mayhew, which is tuition-free to them and their families.  What can this experience mean? Consider the following:

School Counselor, referring 10-year-old "Luke" to Mayhew:

"Luke needs a real positive male role model in his life, as both his dad and stepdad were abusive...When he left his dad, he stopped talking for 6 months...This year, he has shown more anger, more episodes of real rage or violence...Luke is in crisis and at risk."

Luke at 31:

"I am the first person to stay married in my family and the first to graduate from college.  I have been married for 11 years.  I have a happy, healthy marriage and four beautiful, healthy daughters.  I own my own home; have a great job and love to volunteer in my community.  I believe I would have none of that if I never had Mayhew."
