The New Hampshire Center for Public Policy Studies shared their first thoughts on Governor Hassan's budget proposal for Fiscal Year 2016–2017.

Following a strong showing of opposition to House Bill 569, the House Ways and Means Committee retained the bill in committee.

The full Senate confirmed the Public Works and Municipal Affairs Committee's recommendation that SB 17, a bill to create state mandated board training for nonprofits that receive over $250,000 in public funding, was inexpedient to legislate; effectively killing the bill for this legislative session.

The Chronicle of Philanthropy reported  that nonprofits cheered a successful vote in the House on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 that would make several tax breaks for charitable giving permanent, but the legislation faces a steep climb to become law.

The Senate Public Works and Municipal Affairs Committee recently voted this year's mandated nonprofit board training bill, SB 17,  Inexpedient to Legislate.

The NH nonprofit sector responded to Representative Hess' bill, HB 569, with vehement opposition at the Ways and Means Committee hearing on February 6.

The House Ways & Means Committee will hold a hearing on House Bill 569 this Friday, February 6th, at 10:30 AM in Room 202 of the Legislative Office Building. HB 569 proposes to levy the Business Enterprise Tax (BET) on a significant group of NH nonprofits.

The Senate Public and Municipal Affairs Committee received strong testimony on January 21 in opposition to SB 17, a repeat proposal to mandate Board level training to nonprofits that receive $250,000 or more in public funding.

Once again, nonprofits will be addressing a legislative bill that will impose mandatory training for their boards. The bill, which proposes mandatory board training for nonprofits that receive public funds in the amount of $250,000 or more, has been introduced in the Senate by Senator Sharon Carson.
