About the Organization

Stonewall Farm's mission is to connect people to the land and the role of local agriculture in their lives. Stonewall Farm is a nonprofit working farm and educational center. We are the only working dairy farm and education center in the region open to the public.

Set in a scenic valley, the farm consists of pastures, fields, and woodlands and is open, free of charge, every day, year round. Farm staff operate a 30-head certified organic dairy, a farm store, and a Learning Center. In addition, the farm hosts the Wild Roots Nature preschool, the Stonewall Farm School for adults, public programs, special events, school programs, summer and school vacation camps, sleigh and hay rides, and facility rentals for weddings and parties on a regular basis. Hiking and mountain bike trails are also available.

STATUS: This is a non-exempt hourly position, up to 30 hours per week, on-site

JOB SUMMARY: We're on the lookout for a meticulous Venue Manager to oversee the seamless operations, maintenance, and bookings at our venue. You will work closely with our Venue Coordinator, management staff, and per-diem staff.  Your primary responsibilities will include maintaining fruitful relationships with event managers/coordinators, vendors, and clients. You'll be the driving force behind day-of-event logistics, coordinating everything from staffing to setup, ensuring each occasion runs flawlessly. You will assist the Venue Coordinator with crafting competitive pricing packages, securing bookings, and providing venue tours.  Additionally, you'll take charge of venue maintenance to uphold our standards of excellence, and compliance with licensing regulations. 

As the go-to person for Stonewall Farm’s private event rentals and select public functions, you’ll wear many hats. From event setup to guest assistance, you’ll be instrumental in every aspect, including, but not limited to, cleaning, table bussing, and managing parking logistics while prioritizing safety and compliance with regulations.  Physical demands are part of the job, including lifting and arranging tables and chairs both indoors and outdoors on the farm. 

Success in this role hinges on your problem-solving prowess and adept leadership skills. Anticipating event needs and orchestrating logistics with finesse will be second nature to you. Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills are a must, as is your commitment to ensuring the venue contributes positively to the Farm's bottom line. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Note: the following list of essential functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary.) 

Venue Management

• Oversee venue maintenance and repairs, cleanliness, and organization, including property, equipment, and facilities. 

• Coordinate event bookings, liaising with clients to meet their requirements. 

• Manage administrative tasks such as scheduling and calendar coordination, invoicing and licensing, and coordination with catering services. 

• Conduct facility tours for potential clients and promote the venue through various marketing channels such as social media and lead-generating sites.

  Initial Staff Supervision 

• Recruit, train, and supervise event staff and bartenders and supervise groundsmen and maintenance personnel. 

• Ensure payroll management for per-diem staff. 

• Lead venue operations during events, ensuring safety compliance and efficient setup according to specifications.

 

Event Execution 

  • Provide superior customer service during events, managing food service, ceremony facilitation, and vendor coordination (set up tables, chairs, sound system, staging, water table, water station, bar set-up, Unlocking the building for vendor load-in and locking the building after load-out).

  • Enforce NH Liquor Commission rules, minimize risk, and resolve event-related issues promptly. • Maintain facility cleanliness and assist with bar setup and breakdown as needed.
  • Ensure risks and liabilities to the farm are avoided. Communicate and enforce all security regulations and protocols.
  • Resolve problems that may occur during the event, such as crowd control, conflicts with guests, heat/water/electrical needs, or emergencies.

Event Break Down

  • Clean and maintain rental materials, buildings, and grounds post-event. 
  • Ensure proper storage and cleaning of the bar area and glassware for future use.

Miscellaneous 

  • Maintain personal hygiene standards and attend weekly staff meetings
  • Participate in weekly Event staff meetings. 
  • Fulfill additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in events management, hospitality, or similar preferred, not required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of venue management or related work experience (hotel banquet preferred).
  • Excellent promotional ability and knowledge of marketing channels and techniques.
  • Sound knowledge of safety measures and risk management strategies.
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills and leadership abilities.
  • Willingness to work long hours, nights, and weekends during peak seasons.
  • TIPS certification (within 30 days if expired) and bartending experience are a plus.
  • Knowledge of CRM database systems, and Honeybooks experience a plus.       
  • ASL knowledge is a plus.     

 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

We expect you to be physically able to perform your duties and responsibilities as identified in this job description.

  1. Be able to lift, bend, and carry a minimum of 50 pounds (stacks of chairs, loaded serving trays, tables, etc.).
  2. Mental/visual (mind/eye/hand coordination)                                                
  3. Walk/sit/stoop/kneel/stand – be able to stand for long periods of time
  4. Ability to work in adverse weather conditions (indoors and outdoors)
  5. Climbing up to various heights (ladder)
  6. Driving (must have dependable transportation)
