The Women's Fund of NH has announced the recipients of their 2008 Spring Grants:
Bridge House - $5000 To support the Parenting for Life Program, a program in which parenting staff coordinate with case managers to assess and develop individualized plans for each family that enters Bridge House emergency and transitional homeless shelter in Plymouth.
Lifewise Community Projects - $5000 To support a program coordinaro for Wildcat youth Mentors program. Mentors (female UNH students), are partnered with at-risk middle school girls in a dropout prevention program that seeks to build self-esteem in young women, leading to high school graduation.
New Hampshire Commission on the Status of Women - $5000 To support the printing of the Fourth Revision of A Legal Handbook for Women in New Hampshire. The handbook provides up-to-date and easy-to-understand information about state and federal laws on domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, sexual harassment, divorce, child support, child custody, victims' rights and other subjects.
NeighborWorks Greater Manchester - $2000 To support counseling services associated with the Individual Development Account Program, a matched savings that helps women save for the purchase of their own home.
New Generation, Inc. - $5000 To support programs that assist homeless women, women in crisis during pregnancy, and mothers and children, with access to parenting education, life skills, training, housing, healthcare and social service appointments.
New Outlook Teen Center - $5000 To support the Young Women's Adventure Group, to educate and empower female youth through activities that challenge and expand their knowledge and experiences.
River Valley Community College - $5000 To support Project RISE (Redirection of Individuals through Supportive Education) which provides personal and academic support services and financial assistance that goes beyond traditional financial aid programs.
Riverbend Parent-Child Center - $4000 To support the Home Mentoring Program, which allows a group of volunteer mentors to role model, support and encourage women/girls (mothers and their children).
