Grant provided through CDFI Fund to enhance community lending

Concord, NH – The Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) Fund of the U.S. Department of the Treasury has announced its award of a $1 million grant to the New Hampshire Community Loan Fund.  The Loan Fund will use the money to increase its loans to manufactured housing communities, microbusinesses and non-profit facilities in New Hampshire.  

“This award will make a significant impact toward furthering our mission of improving the lives of low- to moderate-income individuals and families in New Hampshire,” said Alan Cantor, Vice-President of Philanthropy at the Loan Fund.  “We are thrilled that the CDFI Fund has selected the Loan Fund as one of its grant recipients, as it will assist us in increasing the number of loans we will be able to make this year to individuals, manufactured housing cooperatives, microbusinesses and organizations.”

The Loan Fund is one of 89 organizations in 38 states and the District of Columbia selected to receive a grant through the CDFI Fund.  These awards are being made through the fiscal year 2008 round of the CDFI Program.  The 89 organizations receiving grants were chosen among 225 applications.

The CDFI Program invests in private, for-profit and non-profit community-based lending institutions, known as CDFIs, which serve low-income people and communities lacking adequate access to affordable financial products and services.  For more information about the CDFI Fund, visit www.cdfifund.gov
