Two NH Nonprofits were named winners of the 2008 Business Excellence Award Winners by NH Business Review and honored at the 6th Annual Awards Ceremony on October 8 at CR Sparks in Manchester. Nonprofits honored included Bonnie CLAC and The New Hampshire Food Bank.
Bonnie CLAC (Car Loans And Counseling) is a NH-based nonprofit car purchasing program, established in 2001, to provide financial literacy training, car buying assistance and loan guarantees to individuals from all walks of life. In particular, Bonnie CLAC brings loan costs and new cars within reach of the working poor, who might otherwise pay high finance charges for unreliable older vehicles, resulting in lower maintenance costs, higher fuel efficiency, and substantial savings. The program is designed to facilitate the car-buying process by gaining access to low interest rates and identifying a car that will fit into the client's budget.
A program of New Hampshire Catholic Charities, the New Hampshire Food Bank serves as the only food bank in the state. Their current approach to ending hunger includes developing programs to help educate member agencies, rolling out a Mobile Food Pantry, and expanding the Operation Frontline program. Each year the Food Bank distributes over 4 million pounds of donated, surplus food to nearly 350 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, day care centers, senior citizen homes and substance abuse treatment centers. These member agencies in turn provide the food to the over 95,000 hungry men, women and children throughout New Hampshire.
Congratulations to both organizations for the recognition they have received from NH Business Review for the work that they do. To learn more about the awards visit: http://www.nhbr.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20081009/NEWS06/810099995/-1/XML08 |
