Concord, NH – National Alliance on Mental Illness NH (NAMI NH) and New Hampshire Legal Assistance (NHLA) have been named the 2008 recipients of The Corporate Fund Award for Excellence in Nonprofit Management. NAMI NH is a statewide, grassroots network of affiliate chapters and support groups, staff and volunteers that provide information, education and support to all families and communities affected by mental illness. NHLA is a nonprofit law firm offering legal services in civil matters to seniors and eligible low-income persons.
Celebrating their 25th anniversary this year, The Corporate Fund presents the award annually to those organizations demonstrating exemplary nonprofit management practices. Past recipients are listed on The Corporate Fund website at www.thecorporatefund.org.
"Through this award program, we recognize that investing in a nonprofit's infrastructure makes for a stronger organization better able to deliver on its mission. The Corporate Fund is an initiative of 12 New Hampshire corporations in partnership with the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation. Since 1983, The Corporate Fund has provided more than $2 million in grants, training and technical assistance to improve the stability and effectiveness of New Hampshire nonprofit organizations. Current members of The Corporate Fund are: Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Bank of America, Citizens Bank, Comcast, FairPoint Communications, Fidelity Investments, Hitchiner Manufacturing Company, Inc., Lincoln Financial Group, Markem Corporation, Northeast Delta Dental, Public Service of New Hampshire, and TD BankNorth.
The New Hampshire Charitable Foundation has been working to improve the quality of life in our communities since 1962. It builds and manages a collection of funds, totaling nearly $490 million (as of 12/31/07), created by individuals, families and corporations for charitable purposes. In 2007, the Foundation awarded more than $33 million in grants to nonprofits and scholarship funds to students. In the past five years alone, the Foundation has granted a total of more than $125 million. In addition to stewarding donations and making impactful grants, the Charitable Foundation is frequently called on to help unite public and private partners in solving important issues in the state.
