NH – The New Hampshire Charitable Foundation's North
Country Region announced recent grants
of $110,534 through its most recent competitive application grant program.
Grants were awarded to 16 nonprofit organizations throughout the North Country working in the arts, education, the
environment, health care and social services.
"We received more than $214,000 in grant
proposals from nonprofit organizations this spring," noted Peter Benson, senior
program officer for the Charitable Foundation's North Country Region. "This was
a very strong pool of thoughtful applications and we are pleased to support a
wide range of superb work to strengthen our communities."
Organizations that received grant support include:
Leadership North Country
received $5,000 for program support.
Plymouth State University received $2,500 to support the North Country Conservation
Initiative program.
Lincoln-Woodstock Community Childcare Center received $4,885 for materials to improve math science and
literacy curriculums.
Friends of the Conway Public Library received $2,160 for teen and "tween" library programs.
Kennett High School PTSA
received $2,450 to assist with funding for Project Prom.
The Village Core Committee of Lincoln
received $5,000 to clarify and secure easements for a public multiple use trails.
The League of New Hampshire Craftsmen in Littleton
received $5,000 for a community arts project.
The Poore Family Foundation for North Country Conservancy of Colebrook received $4,000 for three cultural concerts
and document transcription.
The Franconia Children's Center received $5,000 for the development of an
intergenerational play space.
The Conway Historical Society received $5,000 for benefit performances at the Salyards Center for the Arts.
The Gorham Amigos Program received $1,800 to support the after-school program.
The Bridge House of Plymouth received $15,000
for operating support.
North Country YMCA of Littleton received
$10,739 for operating support.
North Country Community Development Center of Bethlehem received
$15,000 to build a GIS and data map library for communities in the North Country.
The Boys and Girls Club
of the Littleton
area received $12,000 to create an after-school program for seventh grade
students.
Alcohol, Drug and Prevention Tools (ADAPT) of Lincoln and Woodstock received
$15,000 to provide a youth entrepreneurial program and drop-in center.
The New Hampshire
Charitable Foundation has been working to improve the quality of life in
our communities since 1962. It builds
and manages a collection of funds, totaling nearly than $490 million, created
by individuals, families and corporations for charitable purposes. In 2007, the
Foundation awarded more than $33 million in grants to nonprofits and
