Residential Counselor

Riverbend Community Mental Health

Founded in 1963, Riverbend Community Mental Health is a private, nonprofit organization providing specialized behavioral health services in central New Hampshire. Core services include 24/7 emergency mobile crisis services; counseling services for children, adults, and families; and community support, vocational services, and residential programs for adults and seniors. Evidence-based models of treatment guide all our work, and we strongly believe in the power of self-directed growth and recovery.

Riverbend Community Mental Health, Inc., one of the largest providers of community-based behavioral health services in New Hampshire, is seeking a full-time person to work in our Residential Program as a support person and counselor for midshift coverage.  The schedule is 1PM to 9PM Friday through Tuesday. This position qualifies for a $1,500 sign on bonus!
As a Residential Counselor, you’ll be responsible for providing services and support to individuals living with mental illness, assisting them in their recovery, and helping them attain the goals they have set for themselves. If you are flexible — and possess excellent administrative and counseling skills — this could be a great opportunity!

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, rehabilitation, education, or human services is required.
  • One year of related work experience preferred.
  • Flexibility to work different shifts, and some holidays is required.
  • A valid driver’s license and personal vehicle with auto insurance is required.
  • CPR certification, or willingness to become certified is required.
  • MOAB (crisis management) certification, or willingness to become certified is required.
  • He-M 1202 (medication management) certification, or willingness to become certified is required.
  • Current NH Medical Technician registration or willingness to become registered is required.

Note: A criminal and motor vehicle record release is required upon hiring.

  • Assist in routine residential operations, including meals and housekeeping
  • Assist in managing activities and services
  • Support clients in reaching their goals
  • Ensure the safety of residents and other staff
