Community Arts Grants Coordinator

NH State Council on the Arts

The New Hampshire State Council on the Arts is a state agency enhancing the quality of life in New Hampshire by stimulating economic growth through the arts, investing in the creativity of students, making the arts accessible to underserved populations, and preserving heritage arts.

Provides leadership for the Division of the Arts in the areas of artist, organizational and community services, particularly relating to individual artist entrepreneurship, organizational growth and sustainability, the creative economy and the integration of the arts in healthcare.


Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major study in the arts, business, or economics and community development. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.

Three years' experience in a cultural institution or public administration or a public arts agency, nonprofit arts organization, or arts business; one year of which must have been associated in the community arts field. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of formal education.


Must be eligible to hold a New Hampshire driver's license and have access to transportation for use in statewide travel.

Agency conditions of employment for classified positions:  Selected candidates subject to criminal background check, and if required to drive as part of the position responsibilities, candidate must provide a current Division of Motor Vehicle record post offer.

  • Identify issues and trends affecting artists and community arts organizations and make recommendations to address them.
  • Oversee grants, partnerships, networking opportunities and workshops to assist artists of all disciplines and at all stages of their careers in developing business skills necessary to add to the economic vitality of New Hampshire's communities.
  • Oversee grants, partnerships and workshops and provide services to assist non-profit arts organizations in strengthening their operations, building audiences and building relationships with businesses, local government and community leaders.
  • Oversee agency grants, services and partnerships for communities and organizations that utilize the arts to improve economic and social aspects of community life.
  • Oversee agency grants, services and partnerships for organizations and individuals that utilize the arts to improve outcomes in health, mental health and addiction services.
  • Build relationships with for-profit creative businesses and the business community in general to facilitate collaboration with the non-profit and artist sectors.
  • Represent the Arts Division at meetings and on councils or boards related to the creative economy.
  • Serve as one of the Arts Division representatives to the New Hampshire Creative Communities Network and perform staff work related to the Network.
