Ticket Sales and Outreach Associate

The nonprofit Gundalow Company’s mission is to protect the Piscataqua region’s maritime heritage and environment through education and action. To fulfill our mission, we use a recently built, traditional, wooden gundalow as our floating/sailing classroom for school groups, River Rats Camp, Public sails and private charters


Gundalow Company seeks a self-motivated, organized, energetic/enthusiastic, detail-oriented, computer savvy, extroverted team-player. Reporting to the Operations Manager, but collaborating with all staff and crew, this NEW seasonal part-time position provides direct support for communicating the Gundalow Company mission to the public and is expected to increase ticket sales for daily public sails and private charters onboard PISCATAQUA. Training provided for message content delivery and online ticketing system. Position starts in May and runs into September.

Requirements:
  • Must love the idea of selling tickets to the public as they walk by the dock in Prescott Park
  • Ability to interact with the public and initiate conversations leading to sales
  • Ability to “read your audience” – not everyone wants to go sailing!
  • Ability to sell tickets on the phone and using the iPad – training provided
  • Willingness to learn about the Gundalow Company’s mission and local history
  • Passion for the Gundalow Company mission and a strong environmental ethic, plenty of stamina, flexibility, and a positive attitude.
  • Position will be shared by two or more clerks in order to cover 11:00-6:00 every day.
Responsibilities:
  • Process ticket sales using an iPad and/or phone at the “podium” in Prescott Park
  • Answer the phone, take care of passengers’ questions
  • Promote the Gundalow Company’s message, mission, programs, events, and volunteers.
  • Promote memberships and on-line store for Gundalow merchandise
  • Be the liaison between crew and office staff
  • Work with crew, caterers, charter hosts and charter guests to ensure smooth trips
  • Facilitate the boarding process, check-in passengers, coordinate boarding time with crew
  • Generate daily sales reports using Fare Harbor -training provided
  • Keep track of daily traffic statistics, weather, etc. using spreadsheet
  • Cooperate/collaborate with Volunteers based in Sheafe to ensure passengers visit exhibit
