Senior/Teen Program Director

Boys & Girls Clubs of Central New Hampshire

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central New Hampshire provides afterschool programs, summer day camps and basketball leagues to 1300 youth throughout the central New Hampshire area including Concord and Laconia areas. Our mission is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who most need us, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens.  We offer a safe place to belong, caring adult mentors and programs covering everything from academics and leadership development to physical fitness and healthy habits.

We have an exciting opportunity for a creative, energetic and organized individual to oversee programming and daily enrichment activities for children in grades 5-8 at our Bradley Street Unit in Concord. The Program Director is responsible for coordinating, managing and overseeing the delivery of a broad range of programs and services for the Club’s After School program and Summer Camp. He/she will assist with the planning, development and implementation of all programs. He/she will hire and supervise part-time program staff.

Requirements:

• Two-year degree in related field from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience preferred.
• Preferably a minimum of two years of work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization with planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people; 1000 hours experience working with children in a licensed child care program, recreation program or elementary school.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics.
• Demonstrated organizational, staff and project management abilities.
• Must obtain CPR and First Aid Certifications in order to meet Bureau of Childcare licensing requirements.
• Valid State Driver’s License; may need to drive Club bus periodically. Must possess a safe driving record.
• Must be willing to travel between locations when requested. (Only occasional travel may be required)
• All of the candidates that are offered a job with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central New Hampshire will have to submit for an FBI fingerprint background check and submit to a background check through State of NH Criminal Records Dept. and FirstAdvantage. Note: The State of NH Childcare Licensing Bureau may prohibit you from being employed by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central New Hampshire should there be a  disqualifying finding on your criminal record. In addition, even if the State of NH reviews your records and allows you to work at the Club, we still reserve the right to determine our employment status.

Responsibilities:

Prepares Youth for Success

  1. Plans and oversees the administration of designated programs and activities that support Youth Development Outcomes.
  2. Establishes program objectives consistent with organizational goals and mission.
  3. Oversees the provision of day-to-day program activities in accordance with established Boys and Girls Club standards and goals.
  4. Ensures that all childcare licensing requirements per the NH Childcare Licensing Bureau are implemented.
  5. Ensures that members are encouraged to participate in a variety of program areas/activities and receive instruction and constructive feedback to develop skills in program area(s).
  6. Demonstrates leadership to ensure proper conduct, safety and development of members.

Program Development and Implementation

  1. Establishes and maintains program goals and settings to ensure the health and safety of members. Ensures that program staff understands and effectively communicates standards of program; that they ensure program areas are safe, well ventilated and well lit; and that Club equipment is maintained in good working condition.
  2. Ensures the evaluation of Club programs on a continual basis, including tracking outcome metrics; verifies that programs/activities respond to member needs and addresses their gender and cultural diversity.
  3. Controls program expenditures within approved budget.

Supervision

  1. Allocates and monitors work assigned to program volunteers and staff, providing ongoing feedback and regular appraisal. Identifies and supports training and development opportunities for assigned volunteers and staff.
  2. Oversees proper record keeping and weekly reporting, including activities and events conducted, breakdowns of daily participation figures, notable achievements and any problems/issues.
  3. Ensures productive and effective performance by all program staff and volunteers.
  4. Assists in delivering Finance Department communications to the parents in regards to collections and/or other questions/concerns.
  5. Oversees special programs and/or events (i.e. Keystone, Youth of the Year and Awards Programs), and/or participates in the implementation of other program activities as necessary.
  6. Increases visibility of Club programs via posting of daily schedules, announcements of upcoming events through different social media channels, parent emails, etc.
