Accounts Receivable Specialist

Boys & Girls Clubs of Central New Hampshire

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central New Hampshire provides afterschool programs, summer day camps and basketball leagues to 1300 youth throughout the central New Hampshire area including Concord and Laconia areas. Our mission is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who most need us, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens.  We offer a safe place to belong, caring adult mentors and programs covering everything from academics and leadership development to physical fitness and healthy habits.

The Boys and Girls Clubs of Central New Hampshire seeks an organized and detail-oriented individual with some accounting software experience (e.g. QuickBooks, Excel or similar programs) to perform a range of accounting functions in support of staff, members and their families. You will have frequent contact with program staff and caregivers, so you should enjoy interacting with people in a busy, child-serving environment. This a full-time, hourly position with benefits. Hourly range is between $14.00 and $16.00. 

  • Two-year degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience.
  • Must have at a minimum two years of accounting experience and training in Word/Excel/ QuickBooks accounting software and database management.
  • Must be organized and detail oriented.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and work well with the public as well as other staff.
  • Must be able to work under pressure, meet deadlines and be flexible.
  • Must be willing to travel between locations when requested. (Only occasional travel may be required.)
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • All of the candidates that are offered a job with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central New Hampshire will have to submit for an FBI fingerprint background check and submit to a background check through State of NH Criminal Records Dept. and FirstAdvantage. Note: The State of NH Childcare Licensing Bureau may prohibit you from being employed by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central New Hampshire should there be a disqualifying finding on your criminal record. In addition, even if the State of NH reviews your records and allows you to work at the Club, we still reserve the right to determine your employment status.
  • Has a complete and thorough understanding of our accounts receivable/membership revenue recognition process and performs the following functions including but not limited to: process all after school program invoices in QuickBooks. Enters summer invoices pre-attendance. Communicates in detail on a weekly basis with the Director of Finance, the Director of Operations and each Branch/Site Director the status of their accounts receivable and lead collection efforts.
  • Posts cash, checks, state payments and third party payments to member accounts.
  • Processes member debit/credit card payments.
  • Processes journal entries related to all AR adjustments.
  • Makes daily collection calls on past due balances or declined debit/credit cards.
  • Runs monthly AR reports to make sure that all after school/summer camp program invoices have been coded to the appropriate unit/camp.
  • Compiles a weekly billable report to reflect revenue generated by membership.
  • Processes state billings each week; maintain state billing information in the data base and communicate with unit directors when signed documentation is missing.
  • Pre-processes membership applications for all Branches/Sites in a timely manner with focus on collection of past due balances and or write-off amounts.
  • Keeps all confidential information in a safe and locked place.
  • Fills in and cross –trains in other Finance Department areas as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
