Billing Specialist

Reports to: Executive Director

Hours: Full-time (40/week)

NH Nonprofit seeking full-time medical biller for third party billing service. Position will be responsible for interfacing with billing clients and submitting claims to NH Medicaid, NH Healthy Families, Well Sense and private insurers. Experience with NH Medicaid and managed care organizations preferred, but not necessary. Familiarity with behavioral health billing a plus but not required.

Summary of Duties: Responsible for submitting claims and following up with insurance companies and providing administrative support to the billing service.


Preferred Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma, GED or higher
  2. CBCS certification preferred, not required
  3. Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  4. Proactive team member who works independently
  5. Willingness to learn and adapt to changing healthcare environment
  6. Familiarity with New Hampshire billing resources for continuing education
  7. Familiarity with behavioral healthcare programs preferred but not required

Essential Functions:

1. Prepares and submits clean claims to various insurance companies either electronically or by paper.

2. Answers questions from clients and insurance companies.

3. Identifies and resolves billing issues with insurance companies.

4. Prepares, reviews and sends monthly reports to clients.

5. Performs daily backups on office computer system

6. Performs various collection actions including correcting and resubmitting claims to third party payers.

7. Participates in educational activities and attends monthly staff meetings.

8. Maintains strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations and other federal confidentiality laws.
