Accounting Assistant

Red River Theatres

Located in the heart of downtown Concord, Red River Theatres' mission is an independent, non-profit movie theater whose mission is “to present film and the discussion of film as a way to entertain, broaden horizons and deepen appreciation of life for audiences of all ages.” To that end, Red River offers a diverse program of first-run independent films, cult favorites, classics, local and regional film projects, foreign films and lots of discussion. Conversation and civic engagement are at the heart of what makes Red River so popular in the community and so important to the New Hampshire cultural scene.


Part-time, 12-15 hrs/week, hours are flexible

Requirements:
  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience in Accounting, Business Administration or Finance;

  • Strong skills in record-keeping and in the preparation of financial reports;

  • Proficient in QuickBooks and Excel; knowledge of Point of Sale systems and ticketing software; comfortable with databases in general;

  • Excellent attention to detail;

  • Basic knowledge of both GAAP and non-profit accounting principles;

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines with minimal direction and supervision;

  • Must be able to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Daily -

    • Ensure accuracy of daily Box Office and Concession reports; prepare daily deposits.

    • Prepare and post all general ledger activity including, but not limited to, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and General Journal Entries.

    • Process and prepare incoming mail including receipts of income.

  • Weekly –

    • Prepare weekly Box Office Reports for distributors. Prepare distributor payments.

    • Process Accounts Payable.  Prepare for review and signature.

    • .Assist Managers with the purchase of general office supplies.

  • Monthly 

    • Assist with monthly closing binder including reconciliations.

    • Prepare monthly invoices and process recurring payments.

    • Prepare Accounts Receivable report for review.

    • Assist with monthly reports for Finance Committee.

  • Other responsibilities –

    • Assist with other theater activities as needed.

    • Support Business Manager with special projects including development and IT.
