Interim Executive Director

Holy Cross Family Learning Center

The Holy Cross Family Learning Center is a non-profit center where people of diverse cultures from the City of Manchester, New Hampshire, come together to initiate or to continue their education. As a part of this learning, they participate in helping to develop the Center as a place where family values are strengthened. Located on Manchester’s West Side, HCFLC seeks to respond to the needs of the immigrant and refugee population of the Greater Manchester.

Holy Cross Family Learning Center is seeking an Interim Director to act as the Executive Director as our founder and CEO, Sister Jacqueline Verville retires. The Interim Director will be responsible for the overall management and direction of the organization in accordance with its vision, values and mission and will report to the Board of Directors.

The Interim Director’s position will begin on October 2nd and will continue through the school year ending on June 29th. In that time the board will be conducting a formal search for a permanent Executive Director. The Interim Director may apply and be considered for this position.

Requirements:

● Energetic, enthusiastic, and creative

● Demonstrated ability to inspire, motivate and engage others

● Excellent interpersonal verbal and written communication skills

● Ability to work independently, to take initiative and to follow through

● Innovative: ability to design and plan new program strategies and grants

● Strong management skills, ability to supervise and mentor staff

● Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups

● Heart and soul of the Mission

 

Education & Experience:

● Ed. D. or PhD. In Adult Education, Social services, Community Economic Development and Management skills or equivalent experience preferred

● 6 years or more in non-profit management skills, preferably with refugees or immigrants

● Prior business experience preferred

● Grant writing experience a plus; a writing sample is required

● Fundraising, legislative and communication skills

● Supervisory and personnel experience

● Financial management background

● Evidence of commitment to the mission of HCFLC

 

Overview: The Interim Director provides oversight and overall management, planning, vision and leadership for all aspects of the non-profit including programs and serves finance, resource development, member services, communications and board development. The Interim Director assumes a leadership role throughout the state in partnering with collaborative businesses, foundations, government officials, other nonprofits and supporters. The Interim Director works with the Board and Board Committees to establish vision, policies, strategic focus, priorities, and general scope of programs the Center delivers. 

Responsibilities:
  • Support and work with the Board of Directors
  • Take direction from the Board of Directors and work with the Board to assure that HCFLC operates with a clear mission and a long-range strategic plan that is consistent with the mission.
  • Provides leadership in developing Holy Cross Family Learning Center as an effective, high quality statewide association of nonprofits.
  • Works collaboratively with board members and representatives of other member-based organizations, both locally and nationally, to strengthen the Centers capacity to provide resources and self-support to students and represent the agencies interest to the large community.
  • Keeps the Board informed about issues and events which impact the Center as an agency.
  • Keeps the Board of Directors fully informed on conditions, opportunities, issues, and challenges for the Center and the environment in which it operates so that the Board can carry out its governance, financial oversight and leadership role.
