Community Action Partnership of Strafford County

Community Action Partnership of Strafford County is a 501(c)(3) private nonprofit organization established in 1965 under the provisions of the Equal Opportunity Act of 1964. We work with community, state and federal partners to assist children, families, low-income and elderly residents with their efforts to become or remain financially and socially independent through a variety of coordinated programs. Without the services provided by our agency, many local residents would be without a means to provide for their basic needs, including food, education, child care, utilities assistance, transportation, shelter and access to other services.

Assists I provides coverage for Teacher in providing a daily schedule of activities for play, meals, sleep, and toileting. Responsible for the health and safety of children in a childcare setting.


• High School Diploma or GED
• College courses totaling 9 credits in early childhood education, including at least 3 credits in human growth and development.
• Minimun of an Infant/Toddler CDA or equivalent.
• Prior experience working with children in a licensed child care program.
• Interest and desire to interact and work with young children and adults.
• Prior experience working with children and the commitment to continue training.
• Reliable source of transportation, with insurance (100/300 liability minimum).
• Computer Literate including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Current or able to obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid certification.
• Able to lift 25-40 lbs.


• Assists the Teacher in carrying out the curriculum. Implements daily activities, assisting children with daily routines such as meals, bathroom time, rest time, preparing to go outdoors and other transitions, assisting with room clean-up.
• Communicates with classroom staff, requests assistance when unsure of a procedure or a particular situation.
• Actively engages with children.  Assists and redirects them as needed.
•  Greets parents at arrival and/or pick up. Refers any concerns they have to the Lead Teacher.
• Follows the schedule set by Lead Teacher.
• Assists with monthly emergency practice drills.
• Attends monthly Building Meetings and in-service trainings.
• Creates and maintains an exciting classroom learning enviromnent for children.
• Reports any problems to the Lead Teacher or Center Director.
• Maintains a positive and productive attitude regarding the Center and the CAP Agency when interacting both within the program and with the greater community.
• Performs other duties as required.
