Unit Director

Boys & Girls Clubs of Central New Hampshire

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central New Hampshire provides afterschool programs, summer day camps and basketball leagues to 1300 youth throughout the central New Hampshire area including Concord and Laconia areas. Our mission is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who most need us, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens.  We offer a safe place to belong, caring adult mentors and programs covering everything from academics and leadership development to physical fitness and healthy habits.

We have an exciting, full time opportunity for a creative, energetic and organized individual to oversee programming and daily enrichment activities for children in grades K-8 at our brand new unit in Weare, starting in September. Hours would be 6:30am to 8:30am(morning program) and 2:00pm to 6:00pm (afterschool program)

The Unit Director is responsible for directing, managing and overseeing the delivery of a broad range of programs and services for the morning, after school and summer camp programs. He/she will supervise program staff and volunteers.


Candidates must be at least 20 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED and have at least on of the following: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in elementary education or recreation. An Associate’s degree in early childhood education, awarded by a regionally accredited college or university. Certification of successful completion of training as a recreational director plus 1000 hours experience working with children in a licensed child care program, recreational program or elementary school.


• Plans and organizes age appropriate programs
• Works to ensure the safety of members and staff
• Works with the Communications Director to keep staff, parents, Club members and the general public aware of the aims, objectives, standards, programs, and activities of the program.
• Promotes and stimulates interest in activities
• Serves as program's professional representative, whenever and wherever such representation is required or requested
• Continues to develop successful relationships with the juvenile services, eg: JPPO, School Guidance Counselors, etc.
• Serves as an advocate on behalf of Club members and their families
• Establishes and maintains a friendly and cooperative relationship with the public and private youth serving agencies and other organizations in the community so as to further the image and interests of the program.
• Performs administrative tasks within the program

This is a salaried position with benefits.  Salary range is between $28,000 and $32,000.
