Addictions Counselor

West Central Behavioral Health

For 40 years, West Central has provided community based mental health care provider for New Hampshire's Sullivan County and the Upper Valley. 


Experienced Addictions & Substance Abuse Counselor in support of the Sullivan County Jail TRAILS program.

TRAILS challenges our country’s very high recidivism rates with a team of highly skilled staff who teach evidence based programs in the Community Corrections Center [CCC]. This opportunity affords offenders a very intensive rehabilitative program that has shown proven success time and again.

This is a court- mandated program that helps offenders come to understand they can earn their way out of the system. Eventually, offenders not only open up and talk about their experiences, but actually look forward to the daily course work and sharing personal regrets and ambitions with others like themselves.

Requirements:

Education -
•MA/MS in related Human Services field; BA/BS considered with the right experience
•NH MLADC or LDAC highly preferred, but not required

Experience -
•3 - 5 years addiction or substance abuse counseling experience preferred
•Knowledge and experience in corrections preferred

Other -
• Ability to obtain and maintain Agency and/or State of New Hampshire required background  check(s)
• Understanding of the importance of confidentiality and the ability to maintain that confidence

 

NOTE: This is a contract based position. Salary and benefits are based around an agreement with West Central Behavioral Health and the Sullivan County Jail.

Responsibilities:

The TRAILS program provide learning through such evidence based programs as:

  • Cognitive Behavioral/Life Skills groups (Thinking for a Change)
  • Substance Abuse groups (Prime for Life, use education)
  • Job Readiness and Employment (Job Developer)
  • Educational programs (Hi-set, Managing money, Parenting)
  • Housing & Community Reintegration Planning
