Retail Associate

NH Made

NH Made is a 5011(c)(3) non-profit organization guided by a mission to strengthen New Hampshire’s economy by promoting locally made products and services. We strengthen communities by providing small businesses the tools they need to grow, while increasing awareness of local artisans, food producers and other talented individuals contributing to the Granite State. More than 750 businesses are currently members. The organization is headquartered in Epping, NH and operates two specialty food & gift shops on I-95 in Hampton. These retail stores sell NH Made member products exclusively and serve as business development learning opportunities for members. NH Made is also the principal supplier of NH Made products to the general stores & gift shop in the Hooksett Welcome Centers on I-93.

NH Made is looking for retail associates to join our team. Our retail associates are critical to our "buy local" mission by greeting customers and facilitating purchases in our retail stores. They help maintain an enjoyable shopping environment by receiving and stocking inventory, sharing information about our members' products and keeping stores clean.

NH Made stores support artisans, food producers and small, family-owned businesses in New Hampshire. The stores are located off of I-95 in Hampton next to the NH Wine & Liquor Outlets (one store on the northbound side and one store on the southbound side). Retail associates are reimbursed for tolls and receive a discount on NH Made products. The current opening is primarily for weekend hours, but flexible weekday hours are also available.

Requirements:

Individuals should have a positive and professional attitude, attention to detail and dependability. They should also enjoy engaging customers. Basic computer and math skills and high school diploma (or equivalent) is required. Must be able to stand for several hours and lift up to 25 pounds. Previous retail experience is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities:
  • Greeting store customers and helping them locate products in the store
  • Operating a point-of-sale system (cash register) to collect payments for purchases, including the handling of cash and debit/credit card charges
  • Balancing cash drawer
  • Replenishing store inventory including receiving products into inventory, stocking shelves and alerting manager when inventory is low
  • Maintaining store cleanliness and keeping product displays neat and orderly
  • Opening and closing store independently, following standard operating procedures
  • Responsible for cash transactions, inventories and other assets of store during shift
  • Assisting NH Made managers with other adminstrative tasks as needed
