Director, Horse Meadow Senior Center

Grafton County Senior Citizens Council

Grafton County Senior Citizens Council (GCSCC) works to develop, strengthen, and provide programs and services that support the health, dignity, and independence of older adults and adults with disabilities. Established in Lebanon in 1972, GCSCC now includes eight senior centers, the Grafton County ServiceLink Resource Center, and RSVP's Volunteer Center in locations across northern New Hampshire. GCSCC provides a range of community-based services for more than 8,500 clients a year.

The Horse Meadow Senior Center Director manages the day-to-day operations of the multi-purpose senior center in North Haverhill under the direction of GCSCC's Executive Director, utilizing guidance and advice from the center's advisory council. The Director is responsible for the implementation of GCSCC policies and procedures and will supervise and develop a professional program responsive to community needs.

The Director actively publicizes the services of the center in the community, promoting a positive view of aging and encouraging the support and involvement of all segments of the community in the services provided to older residents of the area. The Director will collaborate with other community agencies to provide an optimal level of services for older adults.

The Horse Meadow Senior Center Director also provides guidance and support for Orford Area Senior Services.


Experience in human services; ability to work in harmony with a variety of people including volunteers, older adults, and adults with disabilities; experience in program management and supervision of employees; knowledge of the community and available services; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Bachelor's level degree in human services or related field (professional experience may be substituted for this requirement) and at least two years' experience in social services agency preferred.

  1. Under the agency mission and guidelines, develops and implements programs for older residents of the area.
  2. Functions within agency policies and procedures to guide the operation of the center.
  3. Manages nutrition program, including home-delivered meals, community dining room, and nutrition education.
  4. Supervises local transportation service.
  5. Recruits, trains, and supervises all staff.
  6. Supervises all senior center activities and recruitment, training, and retention of volunteers.
  7. Handles administrative functions including record-keeping, program reports, local financial records.
  8. Collaborates with advisory council and other committees to promote participant involvement in the center.
  9. Supervises maintenance of the facility.
  10. Supports and provides guidance for Orford Area Senior Services.
  11. Works closely with GCSCC administration and serves on agency-wide committees as required.
