Residential Overnight Supervisor

The Awake Overnight Supervisor is primarily responsible for the supervision of all overnight residential staff while ensuring the integrity, safety and security of the Residential Program by providing pro-active, vigilant supervision during the overnight hours. The Awake Overnight Supervisor will provide training and direct supervision to staff, and will participate in student management, programming, and crisis management.

Requirements:

Education and/or Experience Required: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Human Services or related field.  Five (5) years’ experience in human services in a residential setting.  Supervisory experience strongly preferred.   In lieu of a BS/BA Degree, the following criteria shall serve as basis for waiver: Associate’s Degree in Human Services or related field.  Seven (7) years related experience; in-service and additional training; job performance; clear and validated evidence of professional expertise and competent decision-making.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: This position requires critical thinking and impeccable organizational skills. Must be detail-oriented and have exceptional interpersonal skills in order to manage a diverse group of staff and students.  Ability to maintain a respectful environment for staffing and students and to promote positive interaction with other departments. Must be able to provide consistent feedback to staff in order to ensure appropriate programming and needs for the students and staff. Successful completion of PCM training – must obtain certification as a Practitioner 2 for continued employment; 1st Aid, CPR, PBIS, medication distribution and the training sequence required by Spaulding Academy for this position.  Crisis management skills, strong interpersonal and organizational skills, the ability to teach and train new staff on online duties, willing to engage in open communication with direct supervisors and co-coworkers, role model behavior and work practice for other staff.  
 
Schedule: Upon agreement, one of the following schedules will apply:
Five (5) scheduled work days per week that is evenly applied throughout each week of the month. This will be set up and adhered to in advance. (Rotating Sun.-Thur. two weeks per month and Tue.-Sat. two weeks per month)

Responsibilities:

• Ensures behavioral/cognitive program are in place through overnight hours.
• Provides Observation and documentation of each house every 45 minutes throughout evening hours and morning routine 
• Ensures residential overnight staff members meet training requirements.
• Provide direct supervision to all awake overnight staff. This may include, but is not limited to, collaborating with the Program Specialist in hiring, training, on-going supervision, writing evaluations and disciplinary action.
• Provides supervisory support for all residential units and overnight residential staff.
• Provides weekly supervision meetings with individual staff in cottage
• Ensures appropriate staff ratio during all overnights hours to include emergency response and breaks.
• Remains flexible in order to provide coverage during breaks and emergencies in any cottage as needed.
• Supervises and develops overnight routines to include all tasks performed by the residential overnight staff.
• Screens staff requests for sick, annual and holiday time.
• Manages, oversees and screens payroll for all overnight staff on a daily basis
• Makes recommendation to Residential Director for residential budget development.
• Meets with Program Specialist for weekly supervision.
• Interviews and recommends individuals for hire for residential staff openings.
• Ensures that all respective cottage staff receive appropriate safety training, that all staff are familiar with the Center’s Safety Policy and adhere to all provisions of the written safety program; and responsible for the prompt correction or removal of all identified safety hazards in the cottage.
• Facilitates regular residential overnight meetings.
• Attends all required orientation classes, training sessions and meetings as assigned. Participates in meaningful shift exchanges on both ends of the week.
• Attends and participates in 40 hours of training sessions per year
• Participates in the dispensing of medication to students when warranted.
• Performs weekly building checks and submits related reports to the Residential Director.
• Works 5 scheduled days per week
• Oversees the overnight staff’s entry of data for all students
• Is familiar with Spaulding’s Safety Program and adheres to all provisions of the written safety plan.  Respectful of equipment and/or working environment; promotes an environment free from conduct that violates the rights of others.
• Reviews and documents all incidents of restraint and seclusion for the previous day.
• Monitors, screens and responds to all pertinent communication regarding case assignments in a timely fashion.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
