Client Services Volunteer Coordinator

HAVEN Violence Prevention and Support Services

HAVEN, formerly known as A Safe Place and SASS officially merged in July of 2015 becoming the largest violence prevention and support services agency in NH. We are dedicated to addressing public health through violence prevention and improving the well-being of children and families. Preventing abuse and providing support for those impacted by domestic and sexual violence can lead to healthier and more secure children and adults. Our mission is to prevent sexual assault, domestic violence and stalking and to support and empower women, men, youth and families to heal from abuse and rebuild their lives. Through a 24-hour client service support program and a Safe Kids Strong Teens K-12 Prevention education program, this organization provides services to individuals and families throughout Rockingham and Strafford Counties.

This position is responsible for coordinating the crisis line, night and weekend services, and assisting the Manager of Client Services in the overall management of the Client Services program.


Education: Bachelor’s degree required or 3 years of related experience.
Skills: Crisis intervention and advocacy skills, strong verbal and written communication skills, experience supervising staff or volunteers. Highly organized with attention to detail. Must complete 30 hour advocate training prior to provision of direct service
Knowledge: Understanding of issues relating to sexual and domestic violence and challenges of a community-based crisis center. Knowledge of local community resources. Adequate computer knowledge, Microsoft Word, Excel and Access preferred.

Status of Position
40 Hours per week - Night and weekend work will be required. Non-Exempt Salary – Benefits Eligible Reports to Manager of Client Services


Volunteer Coordination
• Manage agency volunteer inquiries to identify the most appropriate opportunity for their skills/interests.
• Screen potential client services volunteers.
• Oversee the maintenance of the volunteer database for Client Services.
• Assist with the development of recruitment and retention campaigns for volunteers.

Client Services Coordination
• Manage scheduling for the Night Team: staff back up, per diem night staff and volunteer advocates. .
• Develop and facilitate night staff and advocate meetings.
• Manage agency answering service – scheduling, updates, feedback and training.
• Coordinate with shelter staff as necessary.

Provision of Client Services
• Provide client services to walk-ins and coverage of agency’s 24-hour hotline as needed:
o Provide direct services to clients on the crisis line and walk-ins during office hours.
o Provide staff backup for night, weekend and holiday coverage on a rotating basis with other staff
• Accompany survivors to hospitals, CACs, legal settings and police stations during office hours.
• Coordinate follow-up services from Night Staff and Volunteer Advocates.
• Co-facilitate support groups and assist with the development of group curriculum.

• Provide supervision to night staff and volunteer advocates.
• On-site supervision for daytime volunteers and client service interns.
• Check-in and process with advocates providing client services.

• Develop, maintain and facilitate agency Core Advocate Trainings.
• Coordinate in-service advocate and Night Staff trainings to meet re-certification requirements.
• Assist with the provision of professional trainings to area service providers.

• Participate in agency outreach events as needed.
• Assist in special projects and assignments as required for the effective operation of the agency.
